When: Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 7 to 10 pm
Where: Glasstronomy Studios, 2600 John St., Unit 108, Markham ON L3R 3W3 (between Don Mills Rd. and Woodbine Ave.)
Why: Proceeds from the event will go to AboutFace, an organization that provides advocacy and support for individuals and families with facial differences. Specifically, we are supporting Camp Trailblazers, a program that provides AboutFace youth with the opportunity to explore their abilities and develop friendships in a safe and accepting environment.
This not-for-profit social event is open to everyone, but especially Studio customers, members, and their friends and families.
Dress code: Wear whatever floats your boat, whether Canadian tuxedo (double denim), red and white, or camp classic. It might be a night to leave the tiara at home — unless that's your thing.
Activities: Heavy on the competitive (!), festive (!), fun (!), nostalgic (!), and tasty (!). Weather permitting, we will also be viewing some short films outside, made possible by kind permission of the National Film Board of Canada. What are you waiting for?
You can purchase tickets in person by visiting us in Studio (cash, cheque to Glasstronomy Studios, debit, MasterCard, Visa) or over the phone (MasterCard, Visa). Our telephone number is 905.415.9777.
$80 per person
$70 (with dish donation)
Your donation: $25/ticket will be donated to AboutFace's Camp Trailblazer program. Donations to AboutFace are tax deductible (Charitable Registration #126761410-RR0001). Tax receipts will be issued to purchasers after the event.
Donate a 6-inch diameter glass blank for firing and get $10 off the ticket price. The theme is Canada 150 ... whatever that means to you. Make more and your friends and family can benefit from the discount too. Glasstronomy Studios will take care of the firings. The dishes will be gifted to attendees when they sample the frozen dessert bar.>
Deadline for dish donation: Please drop off your glass blanks by no later than Friday, June 9, 2017.
Email your friends and family a copy of the event poster. You can also print it and post it to your work place or community bulletin boards. Hard copies are available in Studio.
We can't host our fundraising events without our volunteers. Thank you to all the members who participated in the February and May 2017 member events, creating glass that will be enjoyed during and after the event. Many thanks to Mina Woodruff and Annette Hansen of Cobalt Gallery and Clay Studio for making and firing the custom bisque moulds being used to create the dishes. Special thanks to Lawrence Kolasa and Sylvia Fantin for providing technology, resources, awesome innovation, and heaps of enthusiasm. Thanks to Mia Louie for creating our legacy textile. Thanks also to Cheryl Broschell, Glenda Verge, Ilinka Bulatovic, Laura Wiese, Mary Arcand, Mia Louie, Millean Kung, Mina Woodruff, Natalie Pang, Ona McDonald, Susanna Ng, and Sylvia Fantin for their dish donations.
